Poker rules

Poker is a card game with inexact information. That means that players do not have the whole information about other players’ cards. The latter fact makes the game exciting and unpredictable.

Poker is a community card game. In addition to cards, which are dealt face-down, there are so-called board cards (or community cards). These can be observed and used by all the players at the table.

There are lots of variants of poker but the basis is always the same. Players try to make the best combination of cards and have bet to continue playing. The winner is the one whose combination is the best.

The most intriguing feature of poker is the fact that players can’t observe each other’s cards and can only guess about them. That’s why you sometimes make your way to the showdown thinking that your combination is the best one but finally find yourself in hot water. To avoid such situations, one has to observe other player’s faces to find some “tells” about their cards.

In this section you can find the rules of the most popular poker games: Texas Holdem, Omaha, 7 Card Stud and 5 Card Stud.
