WSOP History
World Series of Poker began from the wrangle of two famous gamblers – Nick “the Greek” Dandolos and Johnny Moss – in 1949. They met in Binion’s Horseshoe Casino to clear up who is the best from the best. They started high-stakes poker marathon, which lasted for more than 4 months. It was a brilliant challenge for players and a great show for all those gapers. Johnny Moss won and took home two millions.
The owner of Horseshoe’s took the idea from this argument and twenty years after he created the World Series of Poker. Here people fought for the title of World Champion in poker. Moss was the first one; he was elected by popular vote.
Third year brought in the corrective amendments. The winner took it all – the one who overcame all others took all. Johnny Moss showed the nertz. And era of the WSOP began.
It gained more and more popularity, involved more and more people and raised stakes. Today it is the largest, the most prestigious, the oldest and the most desired-to-enter tournament. To enter it – have $10,000, win satellite or any special tournament – and enjoy! Good luck!
